The Intercept reports:
THE NEW YORK TIMES instructed journalists covering Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip to restrict the use of the terms “genocide” and “ethnic cleansing” and to “avoid” using the phrase “occupied territory” when describing Palestinian land, according to a copy of an internal memo obtained by The Intercept.
The memo also instructs reporters not to use the word Palestine “except in very rare cases” and to steer clear of the term “refugee camps” to describe areas of Gaza historically settled by displaced Palestinians expelled from other parts of Palestine during previous Israeli–Arab wars. The areas are recognized by the United Nations as refugee camps and house hundreds of thousands of registered refugees.
The New York Times’ management encouraged its staff to use the word “terrorists” (as opposed to “fighters” or “militants”) when referring to Palestinian military actions such as the October 7 al-Aqsa Storm raid, but never in reference to Israeli massacres of civilians. Like all other US mainstream outlets, the Times has “reserved terms like ‘slaughter,’ ‘massacre,’ and ‘horrific’ almost exclusively for (the handful of) Israeli civilians killed by Palestinians, rather than for (the vastly larger number of) Palestinian civilians killed in Israeli attacks.” This kind of bias has been reported for many years by IfAmericansKnew.org, which has cited studies showing that each Israeli death gets dozens or hundreds of times as much NYT coverage as each Palestinian death.
In today’s woke environment, it’s socially acceptable to blame the Times’ biased coverage on “white racism.” According to the woke interpretation, the Times’ management is made up of whites who order their somewhat darker-skinned staff to side with the white Israeli settlers against the brown-skinned Palestinians. Reports of a rebellion by ethnically-diverse NYT staff against their rabidly pro-Israel white management have been circulating since October 7, and it is widely assumed that whoever has been leaking NYT secrets to The Intercept probably has Global South ancestry and non-lily-white skin.
Though it’s OK to blame white racism for biased NYT coverage of Palestine, anybody who blames Jewish racism (i.e. anti-goyism) will quickly be labeled a racist themselves! This despite the fact that everyone knows that The New York Times has been a totally Jewish-controlled operation since its founding, and that its rabid bias in favor of the genocidal Jewish State has gotten more extreme over the years. Anyone who doubts that the Jews who run the NYT and the rest of mainstream media are deliberately skewing their coverage to protect their beloved Jewish State needs to read Jewish ex-NYT-journalist Philip Weiss’s “Do Jews Dominate in American Media? And So What If We Do?”
Nobody is allowed to touch this third-rail topic in Western media. But Iranian media is another story. That’s why I try to make a point of mentioning it on Press TV interviews, including last night’s. Below is a rough transcript.

Joining us now for the program is Scott Bennett, former U.S.Army Psychological Warfare Officer from San Francisco, California, and Kevin Barrett, editor at Veterans Today joining us out is Sadia Morocco. Gentlemen, I'd like to welcome you both to the program here. Always a pleasure to check in with both of you. I guess I will start with you, Mr. Dr. Barrett there. Dr. Barrett, what are we to deduce when the Israeli regime needs this level of censorship to elicit some sense of legitimacy?
Kevin Barrett: Well, they can't allow an honest debate with both sides represented because they immediately lose the debate. And they know this now, and they've always known this. Their domination of American media is the biggest reason why this Zionist entity was created in the first place and has managed to persist all of these years. That's their number one line of defense.
The great Jewish-American former New York Times reporter Philip Weiss wrote an article headlined, Do Jews Dominate American Media and So What If We Do?, in which he described his career in mainstream media, including at the New York Times. Weiss pointed out that the majority of his bosses, important co-workers and the owners of the outfits had been Jewish, and asked, why does that matter? Well, the reason it matters is because the vast majority of these people feel that the American media is Israel's last line of defense. And so they are motivated to basically use the American media, which is dominated by this ethnic group with loyalty to a foreign state, as a propaganda apparatus for that foreign state.
They've been doing it ever since 1948. And they're getting more and more desperate. But today, because of the woke movement, they have to hire multi-ethnic people. They can't just have nothing but Jews and white people at The New York Times. So they hire a few token Arabs and Muslims who are, of course, appalled at all of this. And they leak stuff to The Intercept. And then you get the Jewish management at The New York Times launching a racist witch hunt against the Arabs and the Muslims there.
So the United States is a multi-ethnic nation that's quite fractious and perhaps falling apart. And I think that the Jewish Zionist control of the narrative is falling apart too, in part because the younger generation, including the younger generation of Jewish Americans, is starting to see through the propaganda and understand the horrific reality of this ongoing long-term genocide that's accelerated so much in the last six months in occupied Palestine.

Now, Scott, according to The Intercept, it said that major U.S. newspapers, not just the Wall Street Post or the New York Post, but major U.S. newspapers disproportionately emphasized Israeli deaths in this conflict, used emotive language to describe the killings of Israelis but not Palestinians, and offered lopsided coverage of anti-Semitic acts in the U.S. while largely ignoring anti-Muslim racism in the wake of October 7th. Scott, does it sound like the America that likes to advertise itself the way it has for hundreds of years? And why let this tiny Israeli regime, Scott, make you compromise all the freedoms your founding fathers fought for?
Scott Bennett: A very eloquent way of stating the truth, indeed. And you're exactly right, as is Dr. Barrett, whom I always admire. It is a sickening and depressing thing to witness the mainstream media that is supposed to be the voice of truth and reason and presenting facts for aiding the American person to arrive at truth and a well-balanced opinion—that is what the media and the press and the written word and the freedom of speech was always designed for—and instead, we have fallen into a propaganda black hole where the black hearts of the Jewish Zionists are oppressively and tyrannically forcing this propaganda down the American media's throats and the American people's throats.
And that's why the American media is falling apart. No one is really reading The New York Times anymore or The Washington Post. They're not listening to Fox News. They really have turned these media outlets off because they're propagandistic and people sense that. They are very busy with their soccer games or their children or their jobs, their in-laws or their football games. So the American people have kind of disconnected as a whole.
But this Israeli genocide, this Israeli murder, this Israeli demonic obsession with destroying every Semitic-blooded person, which is the Palestinians…It is not the Jewish, Zionist, Ashkenazi, Khazarians that have infected Israel like plague. Their obvious hatred is turning off the vast majority of the American people and (especially) the American college students. And you see this in their widespread protests and gatherings and objections to this speech.
But you're precisely right. When America loses its freedom of speech, it's become nothing less than a metallic robotic machine without any heart and soul.
Thank you Scott. And Dr. Barrett, before before we actually kicked off this News Review…I’ve seen a lot CNN coverage and they have a bureau there in Tel Aviv. And I Googled “does CNN have to get approval from Israeli military censors? And here's what came up. It said, “like all foreign news organizations operating in Israel, CNN's Jerusalem Bureau is subject to the rules of the Israeli Defense Forces censor, which dictates subjects that are off limits for news organizations to cover and censors articles it deems unfit or unsafe to print. Dr. Barrett, with 130 journalists plus killed in Gaza and southern Lebanon since October 7th, many of them with their families inside their homes as they slept at night, has the regime achieved its objective to continue with its campaign of censorship, or is it losing it?
Had there been a doubt for many people in the world as to what Israel stands for, and the level of barbarism it employs, while trying to maintain some level of legitimacy …Has that been foiled now since October 7th? I hate to mention the silver lining when nearly 34,000 Palestinians, including 10,000 women and 15,000 children, have been slaughtered. But is there a silver lining? Is Israel desperately losing this media war?
Kevin Barrett: Yeah, they've taken off their masks and shown us the genocidal serial killers that they've always really been. And this war on journalists where they've killed 130 now—that doesn't surprise me. It was getting close to 100 last I checked a month or a few months ago. This deliberate murdering of journalists to terrorize and silence the others is not working.
Though it's true that (at least) they can get away with it (thanks to biased media coverage). If the other side were doing that, just imagine how it would be giant front-page headlines in The New York Times and all the other U.S. mainstream outlets, day after day after day after day.
But Palestinians don't target journalists. Only Israelis do. Why is that? Well, we're seeing that the Israelis are constantly committing barbaric acts of cruelty and extreme, over-the-top, shameless war crimes. And some of them are even filming themselves doing it. It's like they're proud of it. And I think they know they've lost the PR war. Or maybe they just don't care.
I think there's some kind of a national psychosis that's always been latent and occasionally rising to the surface in Israel. But it's completely taken over the Israeli Jewish population since October 7. And the whole world can see this psychotic and murderous behavior, thanks to the social media. The fact is that censorship doesn't really work when you have the people, the genocide victims of Gaza, running around with their phones and filming everything. And ultimately, one way or another, many of them are going to get these images out.
And so murdering journalists doesn't really help. It just adds to all of these acts of barbarism that the whole world is seeing. And it has decisively turned the younger generation against the Zionist entity here in the United States, where as early as November, polls showed that the majority of American 18 to 24-year-olds support the Palestinian armed resistance and want to end the Zionist settler colonial entity. That's quite shocking. And those people are going to be the majority in the future United States.
The Zionist entity only survives because it's propped up by the United States. And these old Zionist crazies who run the media in the United States, who dominate the financial sector, who have all sorts of political power—they're on their way out. They're dinosaurs. And the Zionist entity, now that it has destroyed its reputation and any possibility of legitimacy with this blatant, over-the-top genocide since October 7th, really might as well fold up its tent now before it does its own cause even more damage.
And so, yeah, I guess you could call that a silver lining. At least the truth has finally leaked out.

Where would the Israeli regime, Scott, be today without this very thorough campaign of censorship, including getting so much help in this campaign from its friends in the West?
Scott Bennett: It would either be burned out of the Middle East or it would be humbled to the degree of decent, respectable treatment of its neighbors. But instead, the Israeli Jewish Zionist regime has become, as Dr. Barrett said, a psychotic, raging madman that the world is now seeing, having taken off their masks. And it's almost like these Jewish Zionists are in a blood-crazed mania. With all their killing of children they're like the priests of Baal. And the Jews in America and indeed Israel and elsewhere have equal blame. If you stand with Zionist Israel you're standing with a genocide of women and children. And (awareness of) that is going to get them expelled from America and from Europe, I think very soon.
As we've heard, these dinosaurs who run mainstream media have no power or legitimacy. The future belongs to more independent voices. I think you're going to see a violent backlash against Israel, the Zionists, and the Jews, unlike any other time of history, because they deserve it, unlike any other time of history, for murdering and dismembering and crippling children in the thousands with a devilish glee. They do not belong to the human race. They are the synagogue of Satan. They are the seed of evil. And you see that by their works.
So I think the future belongs to an uprising of youngsters in America and elsewhere that are going to reject both the mainstream media and their Zionist puppets as they fall apart and most likely are collapsed as a state by their neighbors as they stand up to stop this genocide.
