The dude is an Ivy League grad, philosophy professor and practicing lawyer. And his book on the "Paul is dead" controversy is pretty good. It isn't that he lacks critical thinking ability. It's more likely that the considerable ability he has sometimes gets swamped by emotionally-tinged biases, wishful thinking, and a too-conventionally-American worldview.
