Jesus never said he was God. He asked his disciples what other people thought and said about him. The Romans at that time were considered gods. He was trying to change that dynamic, and like you say, Sander, he was a revolutionary leader as well as the most spiritual person around, i.e. "God's favorite son" - the first of many who, like the Bible relates and Sander noted, would do greater things than he himself. God in three persons is a very difficult concept for people to grasp and understand. God the Holy Spirit is, to me, the "mother". The "daughter" got left out, I guess. :)
