John Carter of the Postcards From Barsoom Substack discusses his articles on tonic masculinity, weightlifting, and today’s “The Devouring Mother of the Digital Longhouse.” He cites studies showing that today’s teens “aren’t having sex, they aren’t drinking alcohol, they’re gayer than ever, they’re more depressed than ever, and the girls are making suicide plans at an unprecedented rate.”
Reading his substack article, I think I have a better understanding of why today's music seems irrelevant. It may have something to do with the fact that I'm really old but where is the passion? The outrage? The intelligent lyrics that look beyond tik-tok topics? It's also hard to find stations that play challenging music despite all the Soundclouds and Itunes. It's difficult not to feel despair for the culture.

I agree. If you find the interesting new music, please direct me to it!
