My German, 18 yr old father to be, was captured in Normandy in summer of 1944 by Canadians. Lucky for him and others, they got shipped to Lousiana, where they worked in a peach canning factory. He could not believe how good the food was compared to German army rations. All his Dresden relatives perished Feb 1945. My mother came from East Prussia, what is now Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast. She was one of those refugees, 16 yrs old. Took weeks to get to the west, staying here and there, moving on as Russians advanced. They knew hunger, had body lice, separated from parents, not knowing if they were alive. My parents met in Scotland after arriving here after the war.
One of my readers, Julius Skoolafish, had referred these to me awhile back. They are the most disturbing footage and narrative I've ever experienced. I've since gotten the book from Money Tree Publishing and was just showing it to a young sales kid from AT&T yesterday.
We got into a deep conversation when he asked me how I thought we should change the economy, which I've written a book about. He mentioned that he might be distantly related to Kaiser Wilhelm and I told him why he wasn't the villain people think. Then we talked about Hitler and he'd heard some of the information I gave him--from his boss! When I said, "You mean you don't have discussions like this with all your customers?", he quipped, "Yes, when they answer the door, I lead with 'So I think Hitler was really a good guy' and then 'Do you want to buy some fiberoptic access?'"
So the word is getting out! Even door-to-door salesmen are WW skeptics.
