I knew about the CIA overthrow of Mossadegh, but hadn't connected it to the 1979 revolution that you summarized here. I had never conceived of it as a revolt against US influence, but of course, who else! I looked up obscurantism and its simple definition of "a policy of withholding information from the public." That sums up major US media and perhaps our whole education system to a T. According to my Iraq vet friends, who are totally pro Israel, Iran funds Hamas, but I know you said Qatar funded (still funds?) Hamas with Israel's blessing. I read that in a VT foreign policy article as well.
