To my understanding, Sheik Yassim's vision was that Gaza, and what Gaza might become, could host many religions and ideologies, all on the ground of the governing inspirations of Islam. It seems to be the polity the Sheik had in mind, was like that of the former caliphate of Andalusia, located in present-day Spain. Edward Said used to glorify in the intellectual and humanitarian achievements of Andalusia. Its time for more imaginative thinking about what we could collectively make of humanity under God's grace.
I was vindicated with my analysis of the Ukraine War when I knew from the start that the Russian Armed Forces would win without expending to many resources, which they didn't.
And I am now being vindicated about the current devastating conflict in Gaza. Because the Hamas Armed Forces were extremely secretive, there was little to no information regarding their current capabilities. However, around 16 months ago a US Army sergeant, who was a US liaison NCO to Israel stated in a piece he was interviewed for that the IDF had no professional NCO career track and that the majority of the IDF were merely conscripts who could not have a career in the enlisted ranks of the Israeli Army.
I knew then with other factors concerning the readiness of the IDF that this military unit could no longer fight a determined opponent.
And this has been borne out with utter stupidity that the IDF has managed its combat operations. Even former CIA analyst and current military analyst, Larry Johnson, stated just recently that he had seen quite a number of videos of IDF Forces in Gaza that demonstrated no "muzzle discipline" whatsoever, where Israeli soldiers were waving their guns around even at their own colleagues in the units.
I have been a long time supporter of the Palestinian Cause and am very satisfied with the work that the Hamas Armed Forces have been able to accomplish. However, I am horrified by the innocent loss of life to such an extent that there are days that I no longer believe I can maintain my own sanity on this wretched planet.
But until the Israeli regime is destroyed, this will continue simply because sociopathology cannot be cured. It can only be eradicated, which the Israelis are quite deserving of...
