Though I agree with much of what Kevin said in this interview, other sources of mine have a different perspective on the HTS Group.
It is true that the CIA trained and supplied the people that would become Al Quada, while the US military was fighting it in other countries, making US endeavors a complete hodgepodge of total incompetence.
Nonetheless, my understanding is that HTS has been trained and supplied by Turkey. And even now, Turkey is moving weaponry and supplies into Syria.
In my view, this came about as result of a planned operation months ago between Turkey, Syria (President Assad), Iran and Russia. As Israel began to attack Syria, the plan was let loose with a completely surprising success by HTS.
HTS is now engaged in pushing out the the US backed SDF forces in northeast Syria, for which it has already begun to see success in this area. It is hoped that now that Syria is being unified by the HTS, many in the northeast will align themselves with the new government and against further SDF actions.
If all goes to plan, the US will be leaving this area sooner than they think.
Once accomplished, Syria and her backers will turn on Israel, who is starting to realize that their euphoria over the recent fall of the Assad government, will be short lived.
The end of the genocidal, Israeli state can't come soon enough for the majority of us in the world, along with many of my fellow citizens in the US...

I doubt that will apply to Israel but his brother-in-law is apparently Muslim and has some insights and Trump has promised a Palestinian state to the Arabs of Michigan—we’ll see. It would be great to just ignore the region and let everyone work things out for themselves. Whew...
