ICJ: Israel May Be Committing Genocide
What do Kabir Helminski, John Andrew Morrow, and E. Michael Jones think?
The International Court of Justice today found South Africa’s assertion that Israel is committing genocide “plausible.” South Africa basically won the case:
They (the ICJ) agreed that they (South Africa) had jurisdiction in this case, that they have standing in the case, that some of the things that South Africa has alleged are certainly taking place (and fall) within the definition of the Genocide Convention. -James Bays
Al-Jazeera summarized the ICJ’s ruling:
The court says it has jurisdiction to rule in the case.
The court orders Israel to take measures to prevent acts of genocide in the Gaza Strip, must report back in one month.
The court says Israel must prevent and punish incitement to genocide.
The court says Israel must allow humanitarian aid into the Strip.
The court obliges Israel to take more measures to protect Palestinians but does not order it to end military operations in the Strip.
Critics are saying that the Court didn’t go far enough in its ordered remedy. Obviously the order to allow humanitarian aid and prevent the deaths of innocent civilians makes no sense if Israel is allowed to continue killing hundreds of innocents each day while pulverizing Gaza. A clearcut ceasefire order would have been better than an implicit one.
The significance of the ruling is not that it will quickly stop the genocide—even a ceasefire order wouldn’t have been obeyed—but rather that it has put Israel’s ongoing 75-year genocide of Palestine in the international spotlight. Whatever happens in Gaza, the case will drag on for years, and the words Israel and genocide have been permanently linked—as synonyms rather than antonyms.
Israel’s excuse for invading Palestine and murdering and expelling Palestinians has always been the classic psychopath’s pity play: “We are genocide victims.” The current war in Gaza has flipped that equation and exposed the truth. From now on, Israel will be correctly viewed as a nation of genocide perpetrators.
Checking in with three religious leaders
During the next 24 hours I will be interviewing three notable American religious figures and authors about the ICJ’s ruling, and about their latest writings.
LIVE RADIO! Kabir Helminski on Gaza and “What Would a Moral Israel Look Like?”, John Andrew Morrow on Islam and Slavery
Listen live Fridays noon to 2pm Eastern on Revolution.Radio later archived at KevinBarrett.Substack.com
Two notable American Muslim authors and spiritual leaders offer first reactions to today’s ICJ decision on emergency measures requested by South Africa to stop Israel’s genocide of Gaza, and discuss their recent writings.
First hour: Kabir Helminski, one of the best-known names in American Sufism, discusses “Gaza: Witnessing for Justice” and “What Would a Moral Israel Look Like?”
Kabir Helminski is co-director and co-founder — together with his wife Camille Helminski (also profiled in the Living Spiritual Teachers Project) — of The Threshold Society, a nonprofit educational foundation that has developed programs to provide a structure for practice and study within Sufism and spiritual psychology. He is a Shaikh of the Mevlevi Order of Sufis, which traces its inspiration to Jelaluddin Rumi, and has authored and translated numerous books. (more)
Second hour: Islamic scholar John Andrew Morrow, founder of the Covenants Initiative, discusses the ICJ ruling as well as his new book Islam and Slavery.
Everyone knows Islam is against debt slavery, the inevitable consequence of usury. But what about other forms of slavery? One school of thought holds that since domestic slavery was ubiquitous and unquestioned at the time of the Prophet (saas) and is not clearly and directly banned by Islamic scripture, it is permissible. In Islam and Slavery Dr. Morrow takes the opposite view: “The Qur’an encourages and even requires Muslims to emancipate enslaved people. As far as the exponents of Islam’s spiritual, moral, ethical, and egalitarian tradition are concerned, the Qur’an, the Prophet, and Islam introduced a system that would reform the practice of slavery and abolish it entirely and forever.”
FFWN: Elon Goes to Auschwitz (with E. Michael Jones)
Watch False Flag Weekly News with E. Michael Jones this Saturday after 1 pm Eastern HERE.
Why did Elon Musk surrender to the ADL and run whimpering to Auschwitz, where he was shown fake Holocaust footage? Was it unseemly of Musk to kiss up to genocide perpetrators just as the ICJ was about to issue a ruling on the genocide? Let’s ask Dr. E. Michael Jones of Culture Wars Magazine.
And finally, since Covenants Initiative founder John Andrew Morrow is returning to my sho, here is my khutbah from a few years ago relating the Covenants to the question of Palestine.
جمعة مباركة
I'm disgusted by Elon's behavior regarding kissing up to the Zionists, but I guess they have him by the balls.
Musk must censure NETANYAHU, kick him off X for his RACIST HATE RANTS about how he can murder as many SEMITIC PALESTINIANS in order to achieve an APARTEID STATE. Oh, Must is from South Africa. He went to Israel early and I think tried to calm him down. But really, if anyone wants to shut down hate speech, Netanyahu needs to be shut down.
