Their personal safety is at risk in a way that sympathetic Jewish-Americans' personal safety is not. Towards the end he warns about what happens when Whites worked with African-Americans and suggests that although Jews really should be standing up for Palestinians at this time, there is a danger of the same dynamic happening where the Jews end up taking control of the affinity group.
It's a really interesting analysis of what's going on in Israel at this time anyhow.
I would add that in L.A. in 1992 during the riots/uprising (depending on where you stood, I suppose), what I saw was--metaphorically--the White Progressives handing stones to the Black rioters to throw at the Asians. (In the background the Latinos were looting the stores for TVs and diapers.) Okay, the Blacks were shooting the Koreans and burning their homes and businesses, in fact. This is not helpful. The White Progressives lost nothing in the deal. The Black rioters lost a lot. And the Koreans lost the most. In fact, the Koreans lost everything. This is a dynamic to steer clear of. Those riots changed nothing except a lot of people left L.A. for places where people are better at co-existing.
Similar dynamic on a steering committee I sat on during the Iran Hostage Crisis, organizing a demonstration against military invasion of Iran. The White Progressive women ran the group. They sucked up to me and my sibling as "Third World women of color" (but ignored everything we said though they begged us to speak). We had an ally in the group, an Argentinian blond, blue-eyed Jewish male, actually, who the White Progressives would not allow to speak at all because he was a White male. Made us mad as hell. Then two Iranian men sat in the background saying NOT A WORD. The White Progressives acted like they were furniture. When flyers needed to be printed and distributed, the Iranians did all the work. Silently and efficiently and out of their own pockets. This dynamic is such a metaphor for the power dynamics in the left, if it weren't so sick it would be hilarious. The White Progressives ran the whole show. Took forever because they had to get the police department's permission for everything. Childcare, medics, security, everything. It was unreal. If the Iranian Revolution had happened like that, it would never have happened.
Point is: Check your White privilege at the door. It's an incredible hindrance to everyone, yourself included.
